This Tuesday, April 29, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., the City of Winston-Salem will host a web-based training session for minority- and women-owned businesses seeking assistance in certifying or re-certifying as Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) with the State of North Carolina.
HUB certification is free and valid for four years. Registering with the NC HUB office allows these businesses greater exposure to business opportunities in state procurement and contracting. All HUB-certified businesses are listed in the Vendor Link system, which is utilized by state agencies, universities, community colleges, local schools, local government institutions, and the public when locating HUBs for goods, services and construction.
Additionally, M/WBE firms must be HUB-certified to count toward the M/WBE commitment for each City of Winston-Salem project at the time a proposal is submitted.
The training will be an interactive venture, where participants may ask questions during the presentation.
Registration is mandatory for interested business owners and can be done through the Eventbrite link at CityofWS.org/MWBE.
