Members of the 14th Street Golden Crown Senior Club held its monthly meeting on May 13 at the 14th Street Community Center with a special presentation given by the Winston-Salem Chief of Police Catrina Thompson and two of her assistants, Chief Wilson Weaver II and Assistant Chief Natoshia Miles, along with another one of her staff captains.
The police officers discussed various safety measures for senior adults, as well as community safety concerns with the club members. The members found the presentation informative and the question and answer session helpful.
The June 10th meeting featured a presentation by the REACH representative Heidi Bristow from Winston-Salem State University. East Ward Council Representative Annette Scippio will speak at a meeting in the near future.
Senior members of the community are invited to join the 14th St Golden Crown Club on the second Monday of each month at 10 a.m. at the community center. If you are interested in attending a future meeting, please contact the club President Mrs. Dottie Jordan at 336-788-6327 or Vice President Mrs. Jean Moses-Petree at 336-721-1288.

I attended 14th St School as a kid and it’s great to see positive articles from home. It brought a smile to my face to see that the lady on the far left of the Chief has her shirt fringed, not even knowing that she is keeping the law per Num 15:38. APTTMH all she needs is the ribbon of blue!
